The London Fire Brigade, after fa'day's respite, were again the victims last night of malicious calls, anys a message of August 28. On five occasions between 9.30 p.m. and mid-night the fire- men were rushed out to fires that had not occurred,
"The brigade officials "and police believe that the offences are the work of some manine motorist who car or motor-cyclo drives his round London, stopping at public | telephone call-boxes where he rings up the brigade before mak- ing off in another direction to re- peat the performance.
The firemen are working in con. junction with the police, and are keeping a strict watch as they go through the streets near the sup posed fire, in the hope that the hoaxer responsible may return to observe the effect of his action.
