Carnival Scenes In Mary Nolan Picture.
Universal had no trouble getting extras for the big carnival scenes in "Young Desire," starring, Mary Nolan, which comes to the screen of the Queen's Theatre on Tuesday. Free hamburgers and hot dogs con- stituted the reason. "Red Hots" were always sizzling while the carnival scenes were in progress. Although most of the company en- joyed the free feed, the plight of young William Janney, the leading man, was rather pitiful. In com- pliance with his part, Janney had to eat a hot dog stand.
"I don't think I'll want any ham- burgers or hot dogs for some time," Janney confided later. "I used to like them, and I enjoyed them when the scene was taken the first time. But when we started shooting the scene over, I began to pale at the prospect. I think I am devoted to my work, but didn't like the pros pect of newspaper stories reading 'Actor exts self into hospital for his art."
