The fourth band concert arrang- To-day's radio programme to be ed by the Kowloon Residents As-broadcast by Z.B.W. on a wavelength sociation with the co-operation of the Government, was held on the ground of the Kowloon Football Club last night and was as much an enjoyable and successful concert as were its predecessors.

For the occasion, the excellent Band of the 1st Bn. The Somerset Light Infantry, by kind permission of Major R. H. E. Bennett, M.C. and Officers, had arranged a variety of musical attractions, these rang- ing from the delicate airs of well. known composers to descriptive pieces, interpersed with tunes hold- ing the popular fancy.

Opening with a potpourri of mili- tary airs, the band proceeded to discourse the overture and gavotte from Mignon. The latter was ren- dered with all the daintiness which has made it the popular number it

is.

A Grand Fantasia from the well- known opera "La Traviata, next followed, this giving opportunities for some excellent clarinet work by Corpl. C. H. Davis which Was much appreciated.

Perhaps the most popular. num. ber of the evening was Strauss' waltz "Beautiful Danube" played in an altogether entrancing man

ner, and which came in for much applause.

Other items were fox-trota; a Cockney sulte by Ketelby, which was descriptive of London life; a duet for two cornets admirably played by L-Cpl. A. Early and Bandsman H. Blogg; and two de Jocelyn" (Godard) and a trombone solo "The Switchback" (Sutton) played by Bandsman G. Wallace.
