V.R.C. HARD" PRESSED.
ARTILLERY FORCES ISSUE TO. THE ODD GOAL.
Playing much below their usual form, the V. R. C. water-polo team" took the water against the Royal Artillery ip last night's first division contest, when the military men were at their best and what promised to be only a mediocre match turned out in be full of interest. It was one of the closest tussles this season, and casily the toughest proposition that the V. R. C. have had. The Service men rattled on one goal to the home team's two in the first half, and just held them in the second, in which no. score was added.
Ribbands' superb goal-keeping was mainly instrumental in making the match so well contested. He stopped the hot V. R. C. barrage time and again, and well backed up by Danger- field cleared well Knight at the other end was equally unpassable, Final scores were, V. R. C., 2 goals; Artillery,
The men who played were:
V. R C.--Knight, Soares, Weill, Stewart, C. Roza Pereira, Gittins, Silva Netto.
Royal Artillery.-Ribbands, Danger- field, Cavanagh, Maltby, Lewis, For- rester, Gray.
Fukien Win Easily.
Like the first division match the Eukien-Heavy-Battery second divi. sion fixture was marked by no seor- ing in the second half. Fukien ran way in the first term however, put- ting on five goals to the Service men's one, and that robbed the match of atch interest. The Chinese were far and away superior, for towards the end, with three. men out of the bath, they held the Battery. Final talli were. Fulden, 6 goals; Battery,
1.
The teams were:
Lok
Fukien-Kwok King-tong, Man-shun, Ho Yun-chu, Sung In-tak, Tan Chun-hing, Wong Hit-kwong, Wong Ching.
Battery Fletcher, Breeds, Watson, Hesketh, Trice, Hayward, Leadbeater. Mr. Weyman refereed both games.
