INFATUATED CLERK.
SUICIDE AFTER GIRL BROKE
OFF FRIENDSHIP.
A clerk's infatuation for a girl and his suicide after she had broken off their friendship were described at Croydon at an inquest on Re- ginald George Brewer, aged 28, employed in the Surrey County Council offices at Kingston.
He was found gassed at his lodging in Wellesley-road, Croy- which don, and left a note on he wrote: "Whoever reads this last note of mine will perhaps be good enough to permit Miss Carolina George, of Fountain-road, Thornton Heath, to have anything she may desire, particularly my pictures, writing desk, and my collection of snapshots."
-Miss George said she had known Brewer for four mouths and they had been about a great deal on a motor-cycle. Three weeks ago she told him that she did not want to go out with him any more and he seemed very upset.
The Coroner, Dr. Jackson: Did he say that he was not going to part with you? Yes. He said he intended I should marry him in 18 months when he had saved enough money.
Miss George said that they could not agree and had several "little tiffe."
At times she thought he was mentally deranged, as he would bury his head in his hands, and that was one of the reasons why she decided to end the friendship.
It was stated that Brewer had appointment because he could not received notices terminating his perform his duties satisfactorily.
A verdict of suicide while of unsound mind was recorded.
