LINK MISSING IN LORRY CASE.
WAS DECEASED MAN IN THE LORRY?
A curious situation has arisen in the Aberdeen motor lorry accident case before Mr. Lindsell, at the Central Magistracy. At the end of the evidence yesterday after noon, it was found that not one of the witnesses examined bad depos- ed to seeing the deceased man. Lung Man-tung, in the lorry at the time of the accident.
Mr. Fitzroy, the prosecuting counsel, produced a woman who said that she had engaged the de- ceased for work, but when asked whether he had been on the lorry, she said she could not tell be cause she was not at the place where the lorry started off.
The Magistrate said that unless evidence was forthcoming to the fact that the deceased had been on the lorry, he would have to dis. charge the defendant.
Mr. Fitzroy asked for another date, saying that he could get an- other woman to testify to that fact.

Four witnesses were yesterday. Two were passengers in the ill-fated lorry, and the other two were passengers in an- other lorry going in front.
Chan Ng and Chu Chow, pas- sengers in the lorry which over- turned, were both of opinion that the lorry was travelling at a moderate speed. But, beyond say- ing that the lorry before the co- eident jumped and quivered and then fell on its right side, they were not able to throw any more light, as both were rendered un- conscious when thrown out,
Chan Ying, a woman passenger in the lorry in front, said that she saw the other lorry coming behind theirs at a moderate speed. She saw it swerve several times and then turn over on its side, throw- ing the occupants out. It was half turned over, and was prevent-| ed from turning completely over by the rails of the bridge.
Chuk See, another woman pas- senger, gave similar evidence.
Sergeant George said that he sent the injured,man, Fung Man- tung, to hospital and later identi- fied his body in the mortuary,
The adjourned hearing fixed for next Monday.

Cairo, July 21. One demonstrator was killed and 27 sent to hospital, as a result of demonstrations this morning, which
were, dispersed by armed police, supported by Egyptian troops.
Disorders occurred despite the Wafd leaders deciding to abandon the attempt to force an entry to the Chamber to await the King's reply to a petition for an extra- ordinary session.
Many shops were closed and police guarded the main roads, while steel-helmeted Egyptian soldiers were posted in the neigh- bourhood of Parliament. The police, using firearms, easily dis- persed minor demonstrations in the morning, including a crowd which barricaded the street near Abdin
