AMAZING BRADMAN. ECONOMY IN THE OPENING OF NEW COUNTY CRICKET
SCORES 309 NOT OUT IN
THE TEST.
BREAKS ALL THE INDIVIDUAL
BATTING RECORDS.
TOURISTS 458 FOR 3.
Donald Bradman, the young Australian cricketer, shattered more Test match records yesterday, when, in the Third Test against England, he made the amazing score of 309 not out. In the Second Test a fortnight ago he made the highest score of any batsmen in a previous Test match in England and to-day he broke the record for the highest individual score in a Test, This was established by R. E. Foster, who made 287 at Sydney
in 1904.
a new
In addition to this record, Bradman set up third wicket partnership record. With Kippax he added 229; breaking the Australian third wicket record against England of 207 established by Murdoch and Scott at the Oval in 1884.
Batting all yesterday, Australia scored with unusual rapidity and when stumps were drawn the score was 458 for three wickets. Woodfull, the "unbowlable," was clean bowled by Hammond, and Tate captured the other two wickets.
Duckworth dropped Bradman when he had scored 273. Bradman and McCabe are still together and will continue Australian Innings to-day.
