The Up-to-date Nightdress.

The most up-to-date nightdress now has its coatee to match. It is a useful little garment, and serves the purpose of a light dressing-jacket where the nightie is, a sleeveless one. Floral voile was used for both these fascinating designs, the coatee on the left being finished with a deep flour.ce. The fichu collar on the right-hand sketch strikes a novel note, especially as it is in plain matèrial and looks most effective on. the simply made flowered garment.

High Heels.
CHARM IN 1930 SHOES.
Doctors have again been making an onslaught upon woman's pre- dilection for high heels, which are, according to them, responsible for much mischief done to tho health of the female of the
species.
I can believe they are right, if they are talking of those absurdly high heels which ane sees o0- casionally, and which tilt the body forward to a degree 'which must mean that walking becomes a positively painful proceeding.
But, so far as the ordinary, generally worn high heel is con- cerned, I am afraid that I am on the side of the sinners. Let people say what they like about Grecian standards of beauty. I hold that, there is a charm in the high heeled 1930 evening shoe, for instance, that is equal, at least, in its own sophisticated way, to that of the sandal.

Smart Ensemble.
The dresey afternoon frock for smart occasions is often ex- pressed printed satin or heavy crepe de chine. The one in the picture made up very effectively in tones of rose satin. The "yoke" at the top of the skirt gives an attractive line to the slender figure, and the long draperies are gri- duated so that they clear the ground. A hat of fine straw, crinoline, or a darker shade of rose satin completes the en- semble.
