Lane, Mr. and a blind girl, named Lo Lal-fung, Mrs. E. L Self, Rev. W. F. Crosth (9), on various occasions, specifical-waith, Mr. E. Taylor, Maj. C. Willson, ly on June 28th. and 29th, at 188. Queen's Road, a Chinese couple, Li Hing, also blind, and her husband Lau Chau, were charged, before Mr. Grantham, at the Central Magis- tracy, yesterday.

Mr Barrow, Assistant to the Secretary for Chinese Affairs, pro- secuting, said that both defendants were in the habit of ill-treating the girl. They had assaulted the girl on the two dates mentioned above, and as a result the girl had to be admitted to the hospital.

Dr. G. H. Thomas said that the girl was brought to the Govern- ment Civil Hospital, on June 29th, and was discharged only two days ago. She had n one-inch incised wound

on her chin and both her legs bare marks of bruises, which, he thought, was the result of severe beating. The girl was of tou tender an age to be beaten like that.

A Chinese woman. "Ah Woo, was charged before Mr. Grantham, at the Central Magistracy, yester day afternoon, with having pro- cured a girl, named Wong Ho-far, (20) for the purposes of prostitu tion. Mr. Hin-shing Lo defended.

Mr. R. A. D. Forrest, outlining the facts, said the girl was inveigled from the country, with the prospect of getting work, to Hongkong, and was subsequently taken to a brothel.
