Hundreds of passengers on the Leviathan, which was passing. Calshot on her way to Southamp |ton, were thrilled spectators of the

rescues.

The torpedo carried belonged to the R.A.F. base at Gosport. She was towed to Calshot, damaged, and practically up-side down.

The Leviathan released one of which the Neptune, her tuge, steamed at full speed to the scene of the accident and stood by.

"The pilot and his observer were both thrown out and the second man was picked up by an R.A.F. lunch."

The two officers were given dry clothing by their brother officers at Calshot before returning to Gosport..
