Captain Reginald Wooldridge Shipley Hinton, a retired engineer. captain of the Navy, now living at Charlton-rond, Keynsham, Somer set, was awarded £750 damages, and given a deeree nisi on May 10. Captain Hinton alleged that his wife, Mrs. Irene Mabel Hinton, had committed, misconduct with Cap- tain S. B. Spülett, formerly master of a Fleet Auxiliary and now a pilot on the Suez Canal.
The marriage took place on Sep tember 18, 1018, at King's Chapel, Gibraltar.

The crisis was due to the Gov- ernment's measures to assist agri- culture, which is very depressed, firstly by the obligatory inclusion of a fixed proportion of Swedish wheat in all wheat milled in Sweden, and secondly by raising, the duty on imported corn.

KENNEDY ROAD PLOT SELLS
AT UPSET PRICE.
Only one lot was sold at the public auction of Crown, land held at the P.W.D., yesterday afternoon, when Lot No. 2153, comprising an area of about 14,690 square feet in Kennedy Road, with an "äunual)" rental of $102, was sold to Mrs. Chau Wu-shi, of No. 4 Third Street; second floor, at the upset price of $14,690.
Lot No. 2136, situated in Port- land Street, with an area of 4,192 square feet, realising an annual rental of $48, was not purchased.
The sale was conducted by Mr. L. C. Parker-Rees.
QUANTITY OF OPIUM ON STEAMER.
PACKED IN SUITCASES ON DECK.
While patrolling the decks of the American Mail liner President McKinley yesterday afternoon, an Indian watchman came across 2,500 taels of opium. It was pack ed into four suitcases, which bore no clue that might assist the police in tracing the owner.
The President McKinley arrived from Manila on Sunday, and left Hongkong in the early hours of this morning for San Francisco. -
