'SMITH SUMMONS, MCCONACHY FOR ASSAULT.

CASE DISMISSED.

The story of a scene in a Man- chester taxicab. between the bil liards professionals, Willie Smith and Clark McConachy, was told at Manchester when Smith summon- ed McConachy for assault and threats.

Mr. Percy Butlin, for Smith, said that the summonses arose out of an Incident on Monday. Smith and McConachy had recently each wan a match, and the match at Man-

From

chester was a deciding one. the beginning of the present match McConachy had made a series of complaints and accusations, all of which had been found to be groundless.

On the first day. March 24, he complained that the balls had not been washed. It was pointed out that that was his own fault, that there bad not been time, as ho hall only a had arrived at the minute or two before the match was due to begin. Later he com- plained that the cloth was not properly stretched. The referee and the manager made tests, and the referee ordered McConachy to continue playing.
