REASONS FOR GOING
TO CHURCH.
Many and varied are the rea- sons, given time and again, as to why one should not trouble to go to church, but on Sunday evening. members of the European Y.M.C.A., Kowloon, discussed; in the course of the usual weekly "Quiet Hour," some reasons why one should go to church.

The subject, after being intro- duced by Cal. Wyatt, was freely discussed, in the course of which expression was given to the many problems connected with this question, which daily confront young men.
Col. Wyatt, in opening, said:
I confess I hesitated consider- ably before I consented to talk to you to-night, because I felt it would be presumptious for me to lecture anybody on a religious subject. I am not what you'd call a "religious man"-also, if one does not practise what One preaches, one feels a culprit. However, I was comforted on the score by a parson who said that after all, hypocrisy is conscious- ness of deliberate deceit, and at least I don't plead guilty to that. Besides, I felt that if it did no one else good it would do me good-so here I am.

As for the subject, it struck me that we all know very decent fellows who lead very decent lives who never go to church. In fact they lead better lives than many who go to church regularly. So it would be interesting to explore the subject "Why go to Church?" Now, I know lots of reasons that are given for not going to church, such as:
1. Sunday is the only day I have got for fresh air and exercise.
2. I can worship God quite as well in the open.
3. I don't agree with lots of things in the service.
4. The parson can't preach for nute and bores me stiff-in fact I feel positively wicked, etc., etc.

don't propose to answer discuss any of these reasons, be- cause if we do we will never get anywhere. Besides, they really answer themselves if we concen. trate on why one should go to church.
