THE RAW RUBBER MARKETS.
TYRE MANUFACTURE HEADS DEMAND.
London, Apr. 10. The absorption of crude rubber by the United Kingdom more than doubled in the last four years, says a report by the Imperial Economic Committee on trade in rubber manufactured goods. The United Kingdom is now second only to the United States as an absorber of crude rubber.
The report shows that about 75. per cent. of raw rubber used in the industries of the world was ab- sorbed to manufacture tyres, which accounts for about 85 per cent. of the total consumption in the United States. Four of the most ím- portant markets for British tyres are India, South Africa, the Irish Free State and New Zealand, while Argentina, Spain and Germany head the United States list.
