The French Club was the scene of a gay affair on the occasion of the annual dance of the Armoured Car Company of the Shanghai Volunteer Corps. Official guests included Colonel H. B. H. Orpen-Palmer, G,M.G., D,B O., and officers commanding the various units of the Corps.

Breaking up with a thaw in the upper reaches of the - Columbia river. huge floss of ice 12 feet thick descanded on Vancouver harbour, carrying everything in their path. About $10,000 damage was done when the harbour was scrambled into a mass of wrecked dolphins, houseboats, fishing craft and pleasure launches. No lives were report- ed lost, although several houseboat residents narrowly escaped.
Members of the British Women's Association held their annual Valentine tes dance at the Majestic Hotel The affair was given under the auspices of the Needlework Section, of which Mrs. D. Lewis is Chairman. The Nonat Band, of E. M. B. Cornwall, provided music for the dancing. One of the out- standing features was the children's International Pageant, arranged by Mrs. Lewis, in which 17 nationalities were represented.
