TENNIS TOURNEY.
H.D. RUMJAHN ADVANCES FURTHER,
Very little progress was made yesterday in the tennis tournament which has been held up by bad weather so persistently during the last week, the only match in the Open section, being the second H. D. round singles between Rumjahn and S. W. Liang.
The former won comfortably on 3 ground which played many tricks. Rumjahn controlled his shots very cleverly, and was great- ly superior to Liang at the net. The latter appeared unhappy with balls which came through quickly and was at fault with his timing.
In a Club championship match, H. J. Armstrong defeated. Dr. L. T. Ride, without being called upon to concede a set.
There is a heavy programme booked for this afternoon, all nine courts being due for occupa- tion, and it is expected that the stand court will be used for the first time.
