HONGKONG WIN EXCITING
MATCH.
A typleal cup-tie atmosphere per- vaded the hockey match between Kowloon and Hongkong Ladies, when these teams met at King's Park on Saturday in the Caer Clark Cup com- petition. The players were obviously affected by the importance of the oc
nion, for a win for largkong meant a final replay for the right of holding the trophy, whilst the Peninsula eleven only needed to share the honours to gain the cup.

The standard of play, as a result, suffered. The exchanges
remained S very fast throughout, but both teams failed to work with that understand. ing and cohesiveness which has made them with interesting combinations to watch. In this respect. Kowloon suffered more than their opponents, and after a promising start, fell away badly. The visitors were quick to seize their opportunities, and, obtain 2 ing a useful lend of 5 goals to eventually won by the odd goal in nine,
The match will be remembered chiefly by the very fine work of Miss the Hongkong left M. Wallace. half, Miss Stanion, the winner's skipper, and Miss Mason, the Kowloon centre forward. These three Indies were, in fact, the dominating per- sonalities of the game. Miss Wallace of has never given a better display buth defensive and constructive play. She kept the Kowloon right wing com- pletely in subjection by clever of her stick, and in addition plied her passes, forward line with through which always spelt danger for the Stanion Peninsula's defence, Miss
it was simply thrived on them, and pleasing to watch her pick them up in her stride and bring the ball under control immediately. The Hongkong captain also distributed the ball well, and her movements were full of me- thod and directness.
The teams were:-

HOME RUGBY.
INTERNATIONAL MATCH IN WALES.
Swansen, Mar. 8.
in the International rugby match between Wales and Ireland at Swan- sea. Wales won by twelve points to seven, before an attendance of 40,000 spectators.
Ireland opened the scoring through O'Davey, who scored a dropped goal from forty yards' range in the second minute of the game. Wales replied with a try by Skym and at the in- terval the score was four noints to
three in favour of the Irishmen.
The play was fierce and of rough and tumble quality after the resump- tion, necessitating a stop whilst the referee spoke to the players. The fierceness of the Welsh forwards was the main factor of their victory, Peacock and Arthur scored trics while Bassett scored a penalty goal, the Irish the only response from players being a penalty goal by Murray,
of
The Welshmen's victory greatly en- hances. the English prospects winning the International Champion- as it destroys Ireland's pro- Flip spects.
