LIBERAL LEADER,

RESIGNATION RUMOURS - NOT

CONFIRMED.

London, Mar. 1. The Liberal organ, the Daily News, says it has reason to be- lieve that Mr. Lloyd George, in consequence of the defeat of the Liberal ame-dment to the Govern- ment's Coal Miners' Bill Inst Thursday, is considering tender- ing his resignation of the leader- ship of the Liberal Party.

He was yesterday in consulta- tion with leading members of the party.

On the Liberal amendment to the Coal Miners' Bill, four Liberal members voted with the Govern- ment and against their own party, while eight others abstained from veting either way. The Amend-: ment was defeated by only aine

votes.

There is great interest in the party meeting to be held on Tues- day when this matter will be con- sidered.

In any case it appears that the action of those Liberals who took

There is no doubt that Sanchez Guerras has net said all that is in his mind. His hostile attitude to wards the King provides au enigma regarding whom he proposes as a aubstitute,
