In the fifteen round contest for the world's heavyweight championship Jack Sharkey (America), defeated Phil Scott (England), on a technical knock-out in the third round.
It was an incredible decision. Scolt Down Four Times.
A right swing by Sharkey sent Scott down in the second round and he was on the boards again from successive left, right and left blows for the count of six. In the third round, a tremendous left put him down the first time, and a right to the stomach floured him a little later, It was this blow which is the one in question,
Both boxers missed frequently. Throughout, Scott boxed finely, block. ing ducking and landing several times with his right. He also landed one tremendous left, but it did not appear to hurt Sharkey very much.
The end came after two minutes and thirty-four seconds in the third
round.
In the preliminary bouts, Campolo and Risko fought for ten rounds, the result being announced as a draw. It was an unsatisfactory result, the crowd thinking that Bisko won. Rauter's American Service.
