Cottle commenced very confidently. A 31, followed by a 23 and a 10, took his score to 118, against Pollard's 13. A lead of over a hundred in a game of 500 is a formidable task for the 49 back-marker to face, but Follard got 16 going, though play kept very close, 35 to take the lead when about 350.
Going straight ahead with consistent 4 runs, Pollard ran out with 61 to the 26 Food. Neither player was in his best 201 form, Pollard's best runs being 35, 34, 1; 31, 30, 27, 24, and 23. Cottle's other In addition to these already
