The Hongkong Volunteers wero well beaten by the Kowloon Cricket Club yesterday on the latter's ground, when, after declaring at 167 for 8 wickets, the Club dismissed the visitors for 118.

An interesting friendly billiards match was played on Monday night, in the R. E. Sergeants' Mess, when the Senior Ranks met the Junior Ranks. LAWN TENNIS.
OPEN DOUBLES MATCH PLAYED YESTERDAY.
In the Open Championship Doubles played on the Hongkong C.C. ground yesterday afternoon H. Owen Hughes and A. D. Humphreys boat Y. Hachuima and Y. Sajiki in atraight sets. There was also one match in the Handicap Singles "A", in which event I. S. Harris beat J. Barrow in the second round.
Owen Hughes and Humphreys had little difficulty in winning their match, beating their opponents in three sets, after giving away only eight games. They won 6-3, 6-4, and 6-1.
The game between Harris and Bar- row went the full distance, the latter's handicap
Harriving slightly too heavy. 2/6 while Barrow owed 3/0. The score was 2-6, 6-0, 6-3. The match between Dr. L. T. Ride and H. J. Armstrong in the Club championship was not played.
Thore being a cricket match on the Hongkong C.C. ground this afternoon no tennis matches are down for decision.
