A memorable tableau, pictured above, opened the annual Cossack Ball, which was held at the Majestic Hotel, Shanghai. Below the official insignia of the Cossacks and the flags of White Russis, ranged the officers in their brilliant uniforms and young boys in their white tunics making a colourful spectacle. The ball proved to be one of the most successful in the history of the organization. There was an un- usually large crowd, which filled the spacious Majestic ballroom.
