The annual general meeting of the Star Ferry Co., Ltd. again gave opportunity for raising the ques- tion of vehicular ferries across the Harbour, although the Chairman's remarks were most discouraging. The Company has earned the thanks of motorists. for providing a means whereby vehicles can bo transported across the water, and the fact that the system employed. is an extremely out-of-dule one, in no way reflects against the enterprise of the Company in view of Mr. Beith's statements. It is all very well for the Company to realise that it has a duty to the motoring, public, but when an utility company has to perform a duty at a loss, there is very good reason to curb its activition in the particular aphere of its work
