A NOVEL BOXING TOURNEY.
LT. CHRISTIAN TO FIGHT EWIN OF THE KENT.
SERVICES TO BATTLE.
[By Wanderer."]
The Hongkong Boxing Associa- tion are holding their second tournament of the season-at rather short notice--on Saturday next, and the occasion has been made one for a novel type of pro- gramme, taking the form of a duel between the Army and the Navy.
There will be eight contests, all of six rounds, under the rules of the Imperial Services Boxing' Association, which holds, with good reasoning, that if contestants Fare really fighting they cannot be expected to go more than six rounds. It is in this spirit that: the contests have been arranged. The contestants will be expected to fight from the sound of the gong in Round One,
Outstanding Event,
The outstanding event will be the meeting of Lieutenant C., G. Hi.. Christian, of the Royal Artillery, and Able Seaman Ewin, of HM.S. Kent.
#
Unknown to the vast majority of the Hongkong sporting public. the Colony has been sheltering a former middleweight champion of the 1.8.B.A. in Lieut. Christian and since Ewin also claims similar honour, a really good fight should be witnessed. Ewin's) abilities are very well known, and no doubl considerable interest will be shown in the manner" in which Lieut. Christian shapes in formidable the ring with such
opponent.
The remainder of the contests should provide good sport. It is not claimed that the boxers in all
best represent the cases material available in the rival Services, but the matching in each case has been made with the definite object of providing an even a con- test s ponsible.

SETTLING
THE POINT IN.
&& GOLF
The Lost Ball.
There is only one procedure to be followed where the ball becomes lust. The player must go back to the spot where the preceding stroke was played and play another ball, counting the previous stroke and adding one more as penalty. In other words the ball was lost on the tee shot the player" would be playing three.
In ordinary, friendly matches, however, this is rarely done, though it is required in tourna ment play. The usual procedure is to drop a bali as nearly as pos sible to where the other was lost, and play from there, counting a stroke for the lost ball.
This is the rule at Deepwater Bay, where a second ball may never be played from the same place. In serious golf, where the second ball la played from the original position, a ball would be dropped on the fair- way or in the rough-or teed" up If lost from the fee..
