Describing the collision, Mr. Rendall said off the wheel of the lorry, struck the off side of the car between the front wheel and radiator. The front bumpers and front of the car were bent back and the of wheel was bent out- wards. and front axle on the off side were also bent and damaged. It was found to be impossible to move the car without raising the front: wheels with a jack and putting them on a small lorry. Fortunate ly there were no casualties as there was only the driver and an assist- unt in the car and three men on' the lorry..

The Horry, continued, Mr. Rendall, was of a heavy type and was fully loaded with firewood. As it was going downhill it would, carry a lot of weight.
Immediately after the accident, the driver of the car went 10 Repulse Bay and telephoned to his master after which he went to Stanley Police Station where he made A report. Another car, travelling towards Repulse Bay, was able to get by and that would show that the lorry was on the wrong side of the road as plain- tiff's car was immovable. In fact, eaid Mr. Rendall, the rear part of plaintiff's ear was against the parapet and cutter of the road on its, proper side.
Informer's Story.
Lee Siu-ping, introduced lato Court as n police informer, testified that on September 27, she went to No. 20, Centre Street to buy a male child. The defendants interviewed on the matter, in- formed her that they had one, but that he had been sent away to be taken care of by somebody else, and" was not available at the moment. The discussion then turned on a girl, four years of age, who was on the floor, the man defendant offering to sell neu $80. A bargain was struck at $70. Later the Inspector (mean ing Sergeant McKay) came on to the floor and witness left with him, taking the girl with her.

Lorry to Blame.
Chang Kun-lam, the driver of plaintiff's car, said it was an Over- land 5-eater, No. 471. Witness had driven for six years "in Hong- kone and had never had an accident call again, which she did, on three- before. He corroborated Mr. Ron-subsequent occasions, without. dall's remarks,
seeing the promised boy.
Cross-examined by Mr. D'Almada, witness averred that the lorry was completely on the wrong side of the road and agreed that all the damage to his car was on its right.
Mr. D'Almada pointed out that if the lorry was completely on its wrong side then it must have hit plaintiff's car head on and amashed the front, not only the right side.
Witness then agreed that the lorry could not have been com- pletely on its wrong side. He estimate the speed of the lorry to be between 26 and 80 miles an hour and said that it was fully loaded.

To Replace Kidnapped Boy. "Examined by the Magistrate, witness said she had five children of her. own, and the only male child amongst these was kidnapp- ed. It was with the view to getting a male child to replace him that she wont to the house at Centre Street. Also she had a hopo that she might recover her kidnapped boy there.
Allusion was made to the state- that she bought the child shortly before the police visit, for $30, And the defence was called upon to prove that the transaction was a bona fide one, that was to say that the purchase was a corollary to the adoption of the girl as daughter or for the pupose of mar ringe, as stipulated under Section 45n of the amended Ordinance.

RESIDENTS.
".
Messrs. Palmer and Turner, act- ing for the Humphreys Estate and Finance Company, Ltd., yesterday purchased 3,160 square
fect of Crown land for the sum of $3.160. Upon Inquiry this morning it was learned that the Company intends to build a garage on the site, al- though plans have not yet been prepared.
The site is in May Road, east of the tram station, and the new garage is to be built in connexion with the new motor road which is planned at this spot. It was point- ed out that the site was a compara- tively small one and unsuitable for any extensive residential accom- modation.
The new garages, when erected should prove a boon to residents on the May Rond level who own motor cars and, together with the new motor road, should prove a succès- fal project.
