He is Roland West, producer- director of the underworld thriller and one of the most interesting personalities in the amusement world.

West, the son of Margaret Van Tassol, a well-known actress on the legitimate stage, got his start in the theatre from his aunt. Cora Van Tassel, a star and stage producer who died a few years ago in Seattle at an advanced age.

Though stage fright marked, his first appearance before the font lights, he made good and remained with the show throughout the entire run.

At seventeen, West took Emmet Corrigan's role in "Jockey Jones," a popular Amertean play in the early years of the twentieth eentury. A year or so later West branched out as a writer, with a vaudeville sketch that be prepareil in collaboration with W. H. Clifford, The youth starred in hik
