CATHEDRAL SERVICE,
In common with all parts of the Empire, Hongkong has observed Armistice Day in traditional manner. The main feature of the day has been the solemn ceremony at the Ceno- taph, which was most impressive and was attended by a large gathering. A feature this year was the broadcasting of this service.
The observances began with a special service at St. John's Cathedral, which was attended by H.E. the Governor, who subsequently laid a wreath on the Cathedral War Memorial. An eloquent address was delivered at the service by the Rev. F. Freeman, of H.M.S. Hermes.
Perfect weather favoured the Cenotaph ceremony, which was participated in by naval, military and air force units, and at the conclusion H.E. the Governor laid a wreath on the monument, being followed fater by representatives of various local organisations and residents, who also laid beautiful floral tributes to the memory of those who fell in the War.
During the morning, there was the customary sale of Flanders Poppies for the Haig Fund, whilst to-night Ex- Servicemen are holding a dinner at the Volunteer Headquarters.
