Shameen, Nov. 3. An American tournament with sealed handicaph was arranged, at the Shanwen Lawn Tennis Club on Saturday afternoon for Mixed Doubles. Each pair played seven games against each opposing pair. The sealed handicaps were opened after the matches were concluded and the number of games allowed was added to the score.

Mrs. H. D. Walcott and Mr. A. Baker Carr were the winners, scoring 28 games and drawing a handicap of 10, making a total of 98 games,

The defendant said he intended to borrow $20 from his uncle in border that he might start a bysi- [ness, but complainant, who was a friend of his uncle, advised him against doing such a thing, as he said that his uncle would certain- ly refuse the request. The com- plainant asked defendant to con sult him on the matter, and on Sunday he gave him $20, and then just as he was leaving, complain- ant accused him of extorting the money from him. Complainant gave him the money quite volun- tarily, with the iden of starting defendant 'in business.

The police said they had three witnesses to call, including the do- b.fendant's aunt who was the chief

witness.
