FOKI COMMENDED.
KESTORES KIDNAPPED BOY
TO PARENTS.
The chance recovery of á a. bay who had been kidnapped from his parents at No. 201, Templa Street, was described to Mr. T. S. Whyte Smith at the Kowloon Magistracy yesterday afternoon when two Chinese women wore charged with harbouring the lad at the Kee Fat Boarding House in Connaught Road,
1929.
boy recognised his parent and ran to him. The first defendant shout- ed to the parent not to frighten her child but the father replied that the boy belonged to him. The parties later wont to the Central Police Station and from there to Yaumati.
Very Good Work.
It would appear, continued De tective Inspector Fallon, that one of the fokis of the boarding house did very good work in being in- strumental in recovering the boy. After the women had gone out on September 19 the foki-heard the boy and a little girl, belonging to the first defendant, crying and when he spoke to them the boy told him that the women were not his relatives and that his parents lived on Temple Street.
Detective Inspector Fallon, who conducted the case for the Police, said that sometime between 8 pm. and 4 p.m. on September 18 the small boy, who was seven years of age, disappeared from his parents' residence. A report was subso- quently made to the Police and the following afternoon information came to the father that his boyhouse and as a result the child's was at the Kee Fat Boarding parents were communicated with.
House.
One of the fokis of the Boarding House went to the child's mother and told her that her son had been
taken to the boarding house by the two defendants at 8 o'clock on the morning of the 19th, the day after the lad disappeared.
"The boy's father went to the told not to boarding house but on arrival was make his presence known as one of the two women had gone out and had not returned.
He was told that the two wemon had gone out earlier in the day and only one of them had returned. The other was still absent and he was advised to await her return.
When the missing woman turn ed up at the boarding house the father went up stairs and found his son on the second floor. The (Continued on Next Column)

In reply to his Worship the Police officer said that there had not been any arrangements to sell the boy but the defendants were apparently going to take him to Kongmoon.
The boy was only seven years of age and according to Detective Inspector Fallon they could not get anything out of him. He would not, therefore, be called as 4 witness.
In a statement to the Police the
first defendant spoke of having: met an elderly woman when she (the first defendant) had come to Hongkong from Kongmoon and recently she again saw the woman who intimated that she was re- turning to the country.
The first defendant, not being able to find work in Hongkong, said that she would also return. The old woman had a small boy with her and asked the defendant to take care of him for a short time and she would, meet them at the Kee Fat Boarding House. The old woman, however, failed to
appear.
The second defendant stated that she had nothing to say.
- Both Convicted. After hearing the evidence his Worship registered a conviction. against both defendants.
Detective Inspector Fallon mentioned that there had been quite a lot of kidnapping in Yau- mati during the past six months.

the foki of the boarding house saw the boy or it was probable that he would never see his son again.
Nothing else was 28 bad as taking a child away from its parents, remarked Detective Ins- pector Fallon who added that he thought that kidnapping was the worst form of crime.
Referring to the little girl, who was.with the boy at the boarding house, the officer suggested, that she had been used as an innocent decoy" and had been brought down from the "country to keep kidnapped children company."
His Worship sentenced each de- fendant to one year's imprison
ment.
