Unusual Traffic Case.
JUDGE'S SPEED TEST.
The old bluff usually plended in excessive speeding cases, that "my ear wouldn't do 30 miles an hour," has been called in Chicago..
During a trafic court trial, a de- fendant bet the judge 15 dollars that he could not get a certain speed out of his car. The judge accepted the bet, exceeded the speed, collect- ed from the arcused, and then fined him.

Bond with Old Surface. A two-inch covering of all-mix over a previously oil-trented rond surface is a new method of paving old roads in the U.S.A.
The original road base is given an application of medium viscosity road oil, which penetrates about two inches. On this the oil mix is spread and rolled to a thickness of two inches. Users of this new met- hod maintain that a perfect bond is made between the old road bed and the new surfaed by oil treating Jevery stage.

Law Oil Pressure.
Question: The oil-pressure gage of my 1922 engine shows very Hittle pressure, but removing- the gage indientes that plenty of oil is being pumped and inspection shows that "all bearings are well lubricated. I have had come trauble from overheating, but Lattributed this to, my radiator,. which was leaking. Could this be accounted for Hy low oil-pressure?
Answer:-Oil-pressure is sup-{ posed to be about 10 pounds at 10 mp.b. and to rise to 20 pounds. at higher speeds. Why don't you try a new gage-head to make sure that your present one does not in- dirate incorrectly? Judging by The year of this onging it has pre- sumably seen considerable service and quite likely the bearing clear- ances are somewhat greater, thun Hormat, thus producing less back pressure to the flow of oil and giving low gage readings.
Pos- sibly the oil-pressure regulator valve does not close tightly or that its spring in weaker than it should be, and you might have this inspected. Of course, if lubrien- tlan is insufficient, piston friction will be excessive and over-heating will occur, but we doubt if this is. the case, Our impression is that wear has reduced the resist- asen to pil-flow through the boar- ings, but that the volume circulat- ed is adequate.
