PENSIONS ORDINANCE TO BE AMENDED:

At the next meeting of the Legislative Council an Ordinance will be introduced to amend further the Widows' and Orphans' Pension Ordinance, 1908. The Objects and Reasons stale:

1.. Section 2 of this Ordinance will correct an obvious mistake In section (1) (c) of the Widows' and Orphans Pension Ordinance, 1008, Ordinance No. 15 of 1998. The Widows and Orphans' Pension Scheme applies, generally speaking unly to permanent officora, but in 1021 it was extended to persons appointed on an agreement for periods, exceeding two ycare. Section 3.(1)(c) of the principal Ordinance in its present obviously Incorrect form would, make the Scheme apply to officers on agree- ment for perfods not exceeding two years, while excluding officers on agreement for periods exceeding two years. This mistake must have occurred in the printing of the present revised edition, becauso the section appears correctly in the Law Revlalon Ordinance, 1924, Ordi- hance No. 6 of 1924, s. 36.

EXTRADITION CASE.

JUDGMENT RESERVED AFTER

· ELOQUENT ADDRESS.

Judgment as reserved by Mr. E. W. Hamilton at the "Contral Magistracy on Saturday in the extradition caso in which the surrender of a Chiness named Ip Tim is sought by the Canton authorities for alleged robbery and kidnapping in Tzekam village, in the Wuchow District, in March 1926.

Mr. L. R. Andrewes conducted i the case on behalf of the Crown while Mr. Hin-shing Lo represent- ed the fugitive.

When the Court sat on Saturday Mr. Lo continued his address and submitted that there had been a blood feud between the clans to which, two parties belonged. The dispute arose over certain burial grounds in the country. Mr. Lo pointed out that if a man belonged to the opposite camp he automatically regarded as enemy whether he personally had done the opposing camp any wrong or not.
