APPEAR IN COURT.
Charges of being involved in the sale of an 18-year-old Chinear girl who was kidnapped from Kongmoon, were brought against three elderly women before Mr. T S. Whyte Smith at the Kowloon Magistracy yesterday afternoon.
Mr. H. R. Büttors of the Se- cretariat for Chinese Affairs, re- presented the prosecution, Mr. D. H. Blake appeared for the three

On arrival in Hongkong she was taken to the second defendant's place when it was suggested by the defendant that witness should become her adopted daughter. The kidnapper, however, wanted her to become a prostitute.
She was taken by the second and third defendants to the first de fendant's house where she Was asked to remain. She wąs told that she would be treated like a daughter but, in reply to Mr. But ters, witness said that she was not treated by the first defendant as her daughter.
Referring to the promissory nota witness said that she did not re- ceive any of the $300 although according to the note the money was supposed to have con paid to her and another person.
The case was adjourned.
