Besides serv ing several double faults, his service was extremely weak and he appeared to have very little control over it, at times hitting the ball out of the

court.

Lo was steady and at times bril- liant. He was contant to let his op- ponent make all the mistakes, and found this policy paid. He played a base-line game throughout, making few sallies at the net. Whenever ho did, honours were fairly even, Ong passing him at times with some well- placed shota,

Proposed New Rules.

ANHUM,

There was some discussion regard- ing the proposed new rules, Tho first proposal was that the monthly subscription be $3 Instead of $2 for visitors; the next that the subscrip- Lion for residents should be $3 per month instead of $20 per payable, in advance; and another that members if they have not paid their subscriptions for the previous month should be posted on the notice board. Hitherto it had been the custom only te post such members prior to the annual general meeting.

A change in Rule 13 was also pro- posed that a member be responsible for his subscription only up to the end of the month in which he resigns.

After hearing the evidence his Worship sentenced the defendant to eight months' hard labour.

Straits Champion.

Khoo's magnificent forchand drives delighted the spectators in his match with Ng Sze-kwong, the visitor win- ning by 6-0 and 6-3. Ng Szo-kwong was dead out of form in the first set, Khou's consistency bringing the score to 6-0. Ng Sze-kwong showed glimpses of his old form in the second act, however, and started off well by winning the first two games. All anticipated a close struggle, but Khoo won the next three straight off the reel. By some brilliant. play, Ng won the next to bring the scare to 3-4 in favour of Khoo, who annexed the next games and the set and match,

In view of Khog's performance yes- terday, tennis enthusiasts should be cager to sea how he fares against M. W. Lo to-morrow. He is an excep- tonally fine tennis player, and the match should produce a keen struggle.

Ong and Khoo will again be seen in action at the CRC. ground this ufternoon, when they will be partners in a doubles match against Ng Sze- kwong and M, W. Lo. Play is scheduled to commence at 4.30 p.m.
