CITY HALL CEREMONÝ.

- The Duke's Iteply to Addresses of Welcome,

Part of the route taken by the Duke of Gloucester oR driving away after the offeial landing, was lined with troops and Naval ratings, the latter extending along Queen's Rand Central from the City Hall as far as the junction of Battery Path.

Sailors from the County cerul- sers predominated but there were also detachments front military regiments and from the Chinese Company of the Royal Engineers. The line of Naval men extended across the open space in front of the City Hall to the doorway which was simply decorated for the oe- casion.

Over the door was the coat of urms and fuga with red white and blue bunting leading down to other coats of arms on either side, Evergreens also decorated the doorway, these being continued up the stairs of the City Hall leading to the stage of the Theatre Royal. Duke Arrives.

A guard of honour from the King's Own Scottish Borderers;; numbering about a hundred men, was drawn up in front of Beacons) field Arcade, facing the City Hall with the band of the regiment be- hind, There was a large number

of spectators in the vicinity,, ladies predominating, particularly
