The new medallions are strung together on fine metal wire, and the mother-o'- pearl is tinted pale green, pink, or honey colour, so that the trinkets can be purchased to harmonise with any gown.

The revival of the blouse is well illustrated in the smartly- tailored little model on the left; it is made of beige èrepe, trimmed' with stitched bands of self material and an inset monogram in front. luck and orange crepe materialises the overblouse on the right; this takes on a very feminine line with draperies and softly cascading jabot.

Mr. Losely put it to witness that people were allowed to encroach pro- vided they paid for, the land used, to which witness replied that the defendants' had not prid.
A Condoned Offence?
Mr. Laseby remarked his point was it was an offence which was condoned
by the P.W.D.
Evidence was also given by Mr. W. J. Anderson, who stated that other sums for encroachment had been paid and the present claim was the only one that had been contested,
This closed the case for the Crown, when Mr. Loseby said, that he had only put the Crown to proof. The de- fendant's manager was, however, present in Court, but no evidence would be offered unless his lordship desired it.
His Lordship: I don't propose to direct you. Are you enlling evidence or are you not?No.
After Mr. Lowby had said he, did
not think it would be of any help if he addressed the Court, his Lordship gave judgment for the plaintiff with costs.
THE PRINCE STUCK. IN A LIFT.
JOKES ON PREDICAMENT AT VISIT TO 6.P.O.
The Prince of Wales had the unusual experience of being trapp- ed in a lift when he paid an in- formal visit recently to the General Post Office.
Accompanied by the Postmaster- General and others, the Prince entored a lift at the Toll Telephone Exchange in Carter-lane, E.C.
Filled to capacity, the lift was as- cending when it came to a halt between the second and third floors. There it stuck for two minutes, while the attendant used all the methods of persuasion he could think of...
A slight mechanical defect was remedied, and the Prince, who joked about...the predicament in} which he was placed, began his! tour of the exchange.
