The menace of pirates attacking a disabled vessel is amply portrayed in the following accounts of a vessel's experiences after striking a rock in the Upper Yangtze.
The Chinese str, Pingfu struck a pinnacle rock near Sanchu in the Kunglinglan rapids, situated about 33
