Atlantic Time (A.T.) for 60° west: 4 hours behind G.T. (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Central Brazil, the Argentine Republic).
Eastern Time (ET.) for 75° weit: 5 hours behind G.T. (Quebec, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Peru, Chile),
Central Time (C.T.) for 90* west: 6 hours behind G.T. (Cen- tral Canada and Central parts of U.S.A.)
Mountain Time (M.T.) for 105* west: 7 hours behind G.T, (Den- ver).
. Pacific Time (PT) for 120° west: 8 hours behind G.T. (San Francisco)
Alaska (Yukon) Time for 135° west: D hours behind G.T. (Alaska).
On the American Continent there are therefore six different zones following upon one another in the direction from east to west, the respective times differing from Greenwich Time by from four to nine hours.

With the aid of the preceding liat it is quite easy to convert the various times into one another. Care, however, must be taken to remember whether any particular zene is located west or east of the zero meridian (1,e, Greenwich). If, for instance, any of these times is to be converted into Ger- man Time (ie., Mid-European Time), allowance must be made for the hour's difference between M. E. Time and W.E. Time. In the case of countries located weat of Greenwich, this extra hour must be added to the figures given above, whereas in that of coun- tries located east of Germany, it must be subtracted from them.
