AN AERIAL DISPLAY IN
CANTON,
On Friday last, the Far East. Aviation Company delivered the first four Avro "Aylan" machines, atted with Cirrus Mark III en- gines, to the Canton Aviation Bureau. On Saturday morning the work of unpacking tho ma- chines was carried out, and the undercarriages were fitted. On the 4th the work of erecting the planes was started in earnest, and by Tuesday evening the four machines were practically ready for test. One actually had to Jackie and Jill

The machine left the ground and climbed rapidly, Colonel Chau handling it as though he had been accustomed to flying this particular type all his life. After a short flight lasting twenty minutes he brought the machine down, making a perfect landing. Shortly after, Colonel Chau took Mr. Vaughan Fowler for a flight. In the air the Colonel offered the piloting of the Avian to Mr. Vaughan Fowler, who finlahed the flight and landed the machine.

The Chinese pilots expressed their antisfaction with the ma- chines and engines in most enthu slastic terms, and all demonstrat- ed their confidence in British air- craft and nero engines by stunt- ing on their first flights.
