FANCY DRESS AND MASKED BALL.

was

It is some time since a fancy dress and masked ball organised by the Society for Pre- vention of Cruelty to Animals, but a large number of local residents will remember the highly success- ful functions held in the past. It will therefore be welcome nowa that another such event is to be held at the Poninsula Hotel on March 8th.

There is no necessity to stress the excellent work performed in Hongkong by the S.P.C.A., but in order to ensure an uninterrupted continuance of the Society's activi- ties, it is imperative that the limit- ed financial resources be augment- ed from time to time. The idea of holding a masked bull is a happy one, for, as we mention above, similar events held in years gone by proved extremely popular and enjoyable.

No efforts are being spared to mako the night of March 8th. a memorable one, and it is expected that there will be a great demand for tickets. Dancing will continue until 2 a.m., and with the Peninsula Hotel as the venue of revelry, as- surance le given that the catering, music and environment will leave nothing to be dealred.

The function is under the patron- age of His Excellency the Governor, Sir Cecil Clement!, K. C. M. G.
