NEW FRENCH WORDS.
EDITOR'S PLEA FOR ENGLISH
EXPRESSIONS.
Paris, Jan. 10. From time to time agitations are got up by purists who object to the introduction of foreign words into the French language. A champion on the foreigners' behalf has now come into the lists. M. Louis Forest, in his weekly sheet, "L'Animateur des Temps Nou- veaux," declares that many foreign words in a language are justified by their conveying a mean- ing, or shade of meaning, that no native word possesses,
"As a result of international re- lations," he says, "languages inter- penetrate one another more and more every day." The good ones will be kept, the bad dropped. "Our tongue has been enriched in the course of centuries by foreign
