CAFE DEFRAUDED.

WITH FORGED CANADIAN BANKNOTE.

From the cashier of the Prince Cafe,, the police have received a report to the effect that the Cafe has been defrauded through the acceptance of a'forged note from a customer.

It appears that two Chinese en- tered the Cafe yesterday and, after consuming meals to the value of $2 and puchasing a box of chocolates; they tendered banknote in payment. The note appeared to have been issued by the Imperial Bank of Canada.

The cashier, calculating the current exchange of the day, re- tarned 327.16, after dedusting the necessary amount for the cost of the box of chocolates and the two meals eaten. The customers then left the shop.

The fraud was discovered after the caahler had gone to the nonay- changer's, where he was informed that the note was a forgery.
