CRICKET NOTES.

[By "Two Legs."]

Kowloon received a big shock, from which they will probably not recover for a long time, when they lost to the Chinese in the Senior League on Saturday. Cricket en thusiasts here are still discussing this match which Kowloon were.cz pected to walk away with-that is as far as one might judge by that rather uncertain quantity known as "form." The result was all the more remarkable as the C.R.C. were without four of their regular play- ers, and only batted ten men!

There will also be an inter-club match on the Hongkong Hockey Club Ground at King's Park, at 3 p.m., the two teams being represented by the following tadion:

In spite of W. C. Hung's useful contribution (he was 12 rune short of the century), the visitors put up

The Indian RC, ground at Soo- kumpoo was the scene of a most en- joyable and probably the closest game yet this season, when the home team won by two runs from the Navy. The result was in doubt until the last over when the visitors were only three runs behind.

Although almost 350 runs were scored, I think the bowling on both sides was really good. On the Navy side, Comdr. Baker should have re- turned a much better analysis than his 2 for 42. He was breaking both ways and kept a good length for the most part but was not well supported by his field. For the In- dians, Curreem who took seven wickets for 64, made full use of his pace and the vagaries of a hard ground, and allowed the batsmen to make all the mistakes.

There was a vast difference between the respective scores of the University and Craigengower when these sidea clashed at Happy Valley, but the former had fight all the way to get the full points, as a draw was imminent when the last C.C.C. pair was in The II.D. Rumjahn-Kitchell part- nership gave the visitors no little anxiety, but fortune favoured the 'Varsity when Kitchell mistimed a fast one from Guterres which was casily taken at the wicket.

By unexpectedly losing to the Club de Recreio, the Royal Engineers and Signals, who were well on the way to catching up with the leaders, I.R.C. 2nd, have seriously jeopardised their chances Tho in the Junior Division. Suppers could not make any real headway against the Portuguese bowlers who were in exceptionally fine form. Only three of their buts got into double figures and the whole side collapsed for 69. The . E. and S, however, máde n strenuous bid to pull the game round but it was too much of an uphill battle, even for them, ·

Although they dismissed their opponents for only Indian R, C. juniors camo perilous ly near to losing to the Navy 2nd at King's Park. A feature of this game was the excellent bowling of A. M. Itumjahn who returned the figures of 4 for 7 and who has, incidentally, joined the ranks of those who have performed the "hat trick" this season, which feat, by the way, appears to be rather com mon in the Second Division nowa- days.
