The negotiations were long and tedious, and the cow, lo while away the time, commenced. to eat the paper money, consuming 150 marks before being observed. Even then the butcher was only just i in time to prevent the remaining 90 marks from slipping down the bovine throat. Rapid digestion, un- fortunately, frustrated in attempt. to retrieve the larger amount by incans of a humane killer and a knife.
