FRENCH WEDDING DRESSES.
Among the ntday evening, after- noon dresses and sports suits, now being shown at Home, there are kome very interesting wedding dresses. One bridal toilette dis- played, was of fine silver metal lace, velling sheath of hand- painted lace in faint pinks and blues, the design running fa horizontal lines,. With this, there was worn a pale ning tulle vell, disposed to fall over the shoulders instead of down the back, from'a high coronal of orange blossoma.
a
Then there was a dress of gold and silver brocade, the two melt- ing one into the other, yet forming | pattern. This fashioned straight sheath dress, which was caught up at the left side by a handsome pearl and diamante- garniture, to show a petticoat of gold lace which was repeated in long, close-fitting sleeyes.
A gold luce voil, forming a f ting compliment, was arranged to, fall from the back of a Russian hend-dress of orange blossoms. The conventional bride's flower, Indeed, seems to be relegated to someone of these imposing cor- onals, and fa often omitted altogether,
Ideally chaste and simple for a young bride was silver tissue veil- cd with tulle. The full fare skirt was divided into sections, by lines a delicate silver and diamante embroidery.
The stockinetto two-piece suit is an excellent wardrobe stand-by. Here the frock is made of .golden brown stockinetto, with finely pleated panels to the skirt and a novel cross-over line to the bodice. The full-length cont is in golden-brow and dark green striped stockinette, with plain sleeves bound in green,
A new gauntlet type of slip-on glove in black glace kid with an inserted goro at the side is embroidered on the back la gold metal thread, the design taking the place of the ́ usual back embroidery,
Choosing Your Make-up,

The other morning I was looking for a new rouge. My hairdresser gave me a little pot of cream. looked so impossible I almost closed my eyes. It was a sort of mixture between cherry and brick red. An assistant tried it on the buck of her hand. It came off the same funny colour and then grew gradually niore and more natural. I bought it, put it in my bag, and am now earnestly hoping to de- ceive my friends into thinking I am particularly fit, and slightly improved in appearance..
The moral of this is: Try a new rouge now and again and please, please don't try an ordinary deep rune-pink unless you have a really lovely fair skin. If you are at all allow hunt about until you find something natural. Ask the advice of, a reliabln bénuty speel- alist, and even then use your own judgment, and be sure to chonse
alightly different shade for arti ficial light.

METHYLATED SPIRITS HELPS.
The quickest and most effective way to clean silver is to apply a little methylated spirits with a pad of soft rag, and when dry poliah with a chamoia.
Methylated spirits applied with a piece of cotton wool will clean a photograph without injuring the surface in any way,

MORE SHAMPOO POWDERS,
"The loss hair women have the more shampoo powder do they use. "Wo, as manufacturers, have proved the truth of this amusing paradox," a member of a 'well- known English firm said. "Thirty years ago, when we began to' make shampoo powder, there was n comparatively small demand for it. Women, it is true, boasted of flowing locks, but hair-drying was a length business, and shampooing was done once in, three or four weeks.
A tablespoonful of methylated spirits added to the last rinsing water when washing linen table- cloths, traycloths, &c., will stiffen the articles sufficiently to enable one to dispense with the use of starch. They will also be much easier to iron, and will have a. beautiful gloss when finished.
A few drops of methylated spirits sprinkled over a piece of tissue paper and applied to mirrore or glassware will give the glass a brilliant and lasting polish.
Silk will not have a "washed out" appearance after washing if a few drope of methylated spirits are added to the final rinsing water.
