MR. YADA. INTERVIEWS. FOREIGN MINISTER.

Shanghai, Jan. 18. The vernacular papers state that Mr. Yada, colled on the Foreign Minister yesterday and the Commissioner of Foreign Affairs of Shantung was present during a forty minutes interview. It is reported that Mr. Yada in- formed Dr. C. T. Wang that a further 3,000 Japanese soldiers in Shantung will shortly be with

drawn.

The Simterupno states that Dr. Wang denied to the Press that the Chinese-Japanese Customs tariff agreement would be signed on January 20, Dr. Wang pointing out that as the Chinese-Japanese commercial treaty had expired, the tariff question, extraterritori. ality, etc., would be discussed during the negotiations for a new treaty.
