The whole of the material used in the contract, placed by the Central Electricity Board with the General' Electric Co., Ltd., for one section of the overhead trans- mission linds in the south-east of England, will be manufactured in Great Britain.
An official of the company stated that the contract, the value of which was approximately £500,000, wou) covor tho orection of the 132,000 volt line in the distric north of the Thainos, stretching from Roading on the west to Peterborough on the north, and Ipswich and Colchester on the cake. The total mileage of the overhead trans mission would be 254 miles, and the total actual length of conductor would be 1,300 miles.
The contract would be carried out by the Goneral Electric Company with the assistance of their associated. company, the Pirelli-General Cable Works, Ltd., of Southampton, the latter company carrying out all the actual orcotion work. The work, of oxection would take in all three years, and employment would be given in the In actual erection work to between 500 and 1,000 mon. addition to that employment would be given to large numbers in the manufacture of the steel tower, steal aluminium conductor, insulators, and other accessories.
The overhead lines are one section of the system of overhead lines covering the whole of England and Soot- land which are being erected by the Contral Electricity Board with the object of linking up the main generating stations throughout the country and affording a cheap supply of electric power in all districts...

At Happy Valley these teams played a goalless, draw. The Police, were early attacking, but failed in front of goal. Towards the close of the game, Swo rallied and the Police defence was hard pressed. The final whistle Bounded with a blank sheet.
P.W.D. v: Hung Kul School, These teams met at Happy Valley, the PW.D. winning by four goals to one. Tong Fook-in opened the score for the P.W.D. and added one before the interval. Chut Ping-fal and Bui Ping-wo also scored for the P.W.D. in the first half. Chan Chung-ip scor- ed for the School before the interval. The second half was more evenly contested, and was goalless. Just on time the P.W.D. were awarded a penally, Li Fook-mang saving from the spot kick.
