SIR C. HIGHAM ON PRESS ADVERTISING.
Sir Charles Higham, speaking at a meeting of the Leicestershire bl playmen's Association, described the Press as the mightiest selling
force in the world.
Towns and eltles, he said, should advertise themselves. They should get together and "tell the world" what they want.
The textile industry should use the Press to tell the people why they should buy their products. Sitting still and grumbling never built a successful business, a town or a country.
"The British motor-car Industry have got together and are selling more British cars as a result of their campaign in the newspapers," said Sir Charles. "Why don't other trades follow their excellent example!
"They can sell more textiles, iron, coal and steel. Why don't they? It is because these trades have yet to learn that Press advertising in the quickest and cheapest melliod of selling good goods. It is true that these trades are waking up but what they need is to jump out of bed."
