"THE DIVINE WOMAN”
GRETA GARBO'S FINE ACTING.
How
"The Divine Woman," oliowing at the Queen's Theatre, attracted large crowds yesterday, when it was screened for the first time. The theme, that of a poor girl who attains a great height in the theatrical world, only to re turn to humblor walks of life in order to share lots with her first lover, is somewhat häckneyed, and but for the remarkably fine acting the picture would not be classed as more than mediocre. As it is, with Greta Garbo, Lars Hanson and Lowell Sherman playing the leads, it is well worth seeing..
Particularly impressive is the work of Greta Garbo, who runs through the whole gamut of co- tions with much force and power, whilst Lars Hanson is also par ticularly good as the French sol dier who suffered imprisonment because of his love for the girl of his heart. Lowell Sherman, the theatrical manager, is ideally cast for the part and does mere than a little to uphold the main theme of the story.
Despite its shortcomings, i which connexion a certain Inck of continuity may be mentioned, ""The Divine Woman" can be recom- mended as an entertaining film.
