THE HONGKONG" TELEGRAPH,

Have

you ever passed a dairy farm at the moment when the cows are coming in to be milked? Have you seen them swinging in a slow procession down the lane? And have you ever at such a time asked for a glass of milk, just for the pleasure of drinking it, so new and warm and virtuous?

זו

"Milkmaid" is taken when it is like that. It is carried swiftly in cans as clean as new pins to a spotless and speckless condensery where cleanliness is almost a mania.

And then it is sealed to protect it from dust and dirt and germs and pump and preservatives. Just the richest milk taken when it is warm and good and made safe for you and your children, but with the cream carefully left in it and only water taken from it.

Sub-Inspector Nicol, in evidence, said that motor cycle No. 705 passed him in Taku Street, Hung- hom, at 1.15 p.m. on November 18. Witness was not sure whether the driver possessed a licence and followed him into Bulkeley Street and then along Chatham Road to Salisbury Rond. Witness added that the defen- dant was carrying a pillion rider who looked back three times but took no notice of witness' signals- to stop.

Bulkeley Street, said witness, was a controlled area, the speed

His Worship: In pursuing him at 25 miles an hour were you gaining on him?~No. +

The defendant in reply to his Worship said that he had no ques- tions to ask, and when asked if he wished to be sworn or make a statement, replied: "Well, it will be the truth in any case, your Worship."

Conviction Registered, Sub-Inspector Nicol replied that ho did not stop the defendant, because, although he said in Court that he was going at 45 miles an hour, his carburettor was choked. Anybody with experience, said the defendant, would know that if a car could go more than 10 or 15 miles on a choked carburettor, the driver was very lucky.

The defendant said that he was travelling at the usual speed.

Sub-Inspector Nicol was then recalled and asked about the choked carburettor and the reply to the defendant at the camp. What witness told the defendant was that the strainer was a bit choked and that he could not get away as quickly as he would have liked. Witness said that the choking of
