TO-MORROW'S EFFORT FOR
THE POOR,
Arrangements are in full swing for the 46th Annual Bazaar of the St. Vincent de Paul, which will be held to-morrow in the Compound of the R. C. Cathedral from 3.30 pm, onwards.
Judging from the enthusiasm of the Members of the Committee, as- sisted by a large number of willing helpers, the Fete promises to pro- vikle not only Toys of every de- scription for children but also fun and frolic for all folks.
Over 7,000 toys have been im ported from Europe, and these can be won at the various stalls at prices ranging from 10 cents to n maximum of $1. As in previous years there will again be the popular Farmyard Stall, where might be von Hams, Sausages, well-fed turkeys, geese, capons, sucking pigs, etc., all from the Dairy Farm Co.
The big feature of the Fete will naturally be the Draw for the Pontiac Six a five-senter Sedan de luxe car and ten consolation prizes. This will take place at about 10.39 p.m. The car is being taken round the town since the last two days, mounted on a truck and presents Tickets a striking appearance. for this draw, at $3 each are still obtainable and will be sold up to 6 p.ni. on the day of the Fote,
Another special feature will be a Surprise Cake with 600 slices, every slice concealing a prize. Sovereigne, half-sovereigna, jeweis and coins are amongst the ar- teles hidden in the slices.
Last but not least there will be Variety Entertainments give by members of the Concart Party of I.M.S. Titania, of the Chur- chill and Tait "Manila Shows," which have just arrived for a short season in the Colony to be opened Chin- to-night and a troupe of ese Magicians and Fire-caters. The novelty of this Variety En- tertainment is that each perform- ance will last only half an hour. Entirely new turns at each per formance; Admission will be at the very modest price of 30 cents for adults and 20 cents for children.

Two charges arising out of the alleged harbouring of a young wero brought married woman against an elderly woman before Mr. E. W. Hamilton at the Kow- Joon Magistracy yesterday after noon. Mr. R. A. D. Forrest, of the Secretariat for Chinese Affairs, prosecuted.

Outlining the case, Mr. Forrest said that the complainant yns found creating a disturbance on the pavemant outside No. 432 Shanghai Street and taken to the Police Station, later to be sent to the S. C. A's oflice. From statement she made it was gather- ed that she had left her husband, with his consent, and' visited the She Colony to find employment. came with the defendant, who on arrival, instead of finding work for her, attempted to sell her as a wife. The defendant had made one attempt to sell the complain- ant to a man at Shataukok.
The complainant protested and was taken back to No. 432, Shang- hai Street, the defendant's address and kept there. She was inform- ed that if she refused to be sold she would find herself at West Point.
One day the girl got out of the house and had intended to send a Jotter to her mother in the coun- try, but she was followed by the. defendant's husband and it was while she was being taken back to the house that she created the dis- turbance, leading to her being taken to the Police Station.
